Clearing Criminal Records for a Fresh Start

At Empower-Ed, we understand that a past offence; especially one that is minor or long resolved. We understand that it canĀ  affect employment, professional registration, and personal opportunities. Our Expungement Support Service helps individuals legally remove eligible criminal records so they can move forward with confidence.

What Is Expungement?

Expungement is a legal process that allows certain criminal records to be permanently removed from the South African Police Service (SAPS) database. Once an expungement is approved, the record no longer appears on a Police Clearance Certificate, and the individual can continue their career without the burden of a previous conviction.

Who Qualifies for Expungement?

We assist individuals who meet the criteria set out by the Department of Justice, which generally includes cases where:

  • The offence was minor and did not result in a serious sentence

  • 10 years have passed since the conviction

  • The individual has not reoffended since

  • The offence is considered eligible for expungement under South African law

(We will guide you through a quick pre-check to confirm eligibility before beginning the process.)
